There are several
end-of-the-year awards given at North White Middle School. Some
of the awards given are:
American
Citizenship
The American Citizenship awards recognize students who:
participate in school and/or community service; show a positive
attitude toward classmates, school, and community; display an
understanding and appreciation of civic responsibility; possess
strength of character and the courage to do what is right;
promote citizenship within the school and/or community through
other activities.
Blue Heart
Blue Heart awards will be given to a boy and girl at each grade
level. Award recipients must have participated in two North
White Middle School athletic activities in a school year. They
must possess a positive attitude in the classroom and in
athletics. Students must have passed all classes with a C
average or better. Students must show leadership in both the
classroom and athletics and have no discipline referrals during
the school year.
Viking Hall of
Fame
Eighth grade students are selected by their athletic coaches,
based on their participation and performance during two athletic
seasons.
Midwest Talent Search
The Midwest Talent Search is sponsored by the Center for Talent
Development, which is accredited by the North Central
Association of Colleges. To qualify for MTS, the student must
score at the 95th percentile or above on a nationally normed,
standardized achievement test. Students who qualify take either
the SAT 1 or the ACT test.
Perfect Attendance
To earn a perfect attendance award, students must have been at
school every day and not accumulated more than four tardies
throughout the entire school year.
Good Attendance
To earn a good attendance award, students must not have missed
no more than two days of school and accumulated no more than
four tardies throughout the entire school year.
Presidential
Academic Excellence
Students must earn a grade point average of 10.0 on a 12.0 point
scale ( an A- on a letter scale) for each of their three years
in middle school, and achieve an 85th percentile or higher
rating in math or reading on their eighth grade standardized
achievement test.
Presidential Award for Educational Achievement
The recipients of this award are 8th grade students who have
demonstrated remarkable growth on the NWEA during their middle
school career.
Project Wisdom
Golden Rule Award
One student from each grade level will be given this award based
on their honesty, integrity, courtesy, kindness, and respect.
These students must demonstrate honorable behavior with both
adults and peers and serve as role models to their peers by
being accepted and respected.
S.T.A.R. Award
These awards are given to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students who
have achieved a 10.0 GPA or higher each nine weeks
Top Eighth Grade
Student
The top eighth grade student will be selected based on
cumulative grade point average throughout their middle school
years.
